I am a Palestinian scholar who has a PhD in Political Science, (major in International Relations and minor in Political Theory), from McMaster University. My work on green colonialism has received international recognition. I have dedicated my life to propelling the liberation of my community and other oppressed peoples through research, public engagement, and advocacy.

I also possess a Master of Environmental Studies, and a Bilingual BA in International Studies, and Environmental and Health Studies from York University. My doctoral dissertation investigates the cooption of environmentalism as a colonial tool, with a focus on Palestine. At the same time, I recover Palestinian memories concealed through Israeli plantation of European pines over the ruins of destroyed Palestinian villages. My research also explores the resistance of Palestinians and their nonhuman kin, while advancing holistic decolonization: drawing from Palestinian and Islamic knowledge systems, I advocate for the dismantlement of all forms of oppression, as well as the erosion of the Western binary between society and “nature.” Yet, I centre human rights, emphasizing their protection as the foundation of social and environmental justice. I plan to convert my dissertation into a book in the near future.

My work has been published in the high-ranking journals Politics, International Affairs, and Middle East Critique, cited dozens of times, and incorporated into various syllabi. I have also been cited and consulted by nonprofits, such as Visualizing Palestine and The Slow Factory, and interviewed by various media outlets, such as Al Jazeera. Besides, I render my scholarship accessible to the public through lectures, workshops, and social media.
